questions & answers.

so, i saw some questions on kisses & cross stiches (a rather lovely photo-filled blog) & felt quite inspired to answer them in a post on here.

sometimes i feel like i don't share enough of myself on here, i mean i do try but i've just always been quite a private person so it doesn't come easy to me to share things about myself.

here goes:

who are you? i'm a sixteen year old girl, relatively tall with a short mess of curly hair.

what is your name? my name is charlotte imlah. i love my last name, it is rather amusing to say & people always do a double take.

where do you live? i live in the north east of england in a fairly small village, i won't say exactly where for, y'know, privacy reasons, but it is quite near scotland - the land of my fore-fathers.

who do you live with? well my parents are separated, so for half the week my brother & i live with my dad, and then for the other half we live with my mum & step dad.

what is your favourite colour? oh, this is a tricky question! i would say this changes almost daily, i love bright colours but my favourites are turquoise, purple, orange, magenta & blue.

name three songs which you could not live without? gosh, another tricky question! hmmmm i think rosalita (come out tonight) by bruce springsteen, here comes the sun by the beatles & simple twist of fate by bob dylan. ohhh it kills me to cut out so many great artists!

name one person that you could not live without? i don't think i could pick just one person, it would have to be all or nothing as i just can't choose.

what is on your walls? posters of the beatles, the clash & the kooks, loaaaads of pictures i've cut from magazines & things, my pinboard covered in cinema tickets etc and an audrey hepburn calendar.

what is the most treasured item in your wardrobe? i think if i had to pick it would be my jimi hendrix tshirt because i have so many things i can pair it with, and it was ridiculously cheap.

what are your favourite books? catcher in the rye by jd salinger, shout by philip norman, high fidelity, slam & about a boy by nick hornby & so many more that it would take too long to list!

your favourite films? eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, the shawshank redemption, high fidelity, about a boy, notting hill, love actually, little miss sunshine, amelie, breakfast at tiffany's & back to the future 1, 2 & 3.

who is your idol? i have so many! john lennon for his love for peace, jimi hendrix for the obvious guitarist reasons, bob dylan because he is so inspiring, laura marling because she is only 19 & she has achieved so much that it just astounds me & audrey hepburn for her style & elegance.

who is your style icon? i wouldn't say i have one person in particular, i'm mostly inspired by old photos & films, or even people i pass in the street.

which blogs are your favourites? ohh, so many! a few of my favourites are color me katie because of her amazingly creative photos, in bug's drawers for the lovely outfits & locations & oh emma just for the sheer awesomeness of her charity shop finds.

winter or summer? autumn all the way. i love the colours & the icyness in the air before the rain of winter sets in.

bare legs or tights? tights outside, bare legs round the house.

long hair or short? shorrrrrrrrrrrt of course! i wish i could look good with long hair, but i tend to get the christmas tree effect & that just doesn't suit anyone.

heels or flats? i would have to say flats, they're just so much more comfortable, and much more versatile. oh, and i can't walk in heels very well at all!

i love that i can now say merry christmas without sounding like an overly festive idiot!

i listened to my first christmas song of the year today, which is actually quite late for me to be honest. i was doing some sketches for art with my john lennon greatest hits records on when what should come crackling through the speakers but john & yoko's classic happy xmas (war is over)? i don't care what anyone says, that is a brilliant song & it really put a smile on my face today.

this morning it took me a while to realise what day it was, but when i did i practically raced to open the envelope my mother had given me at the weekend (today i am at my dad's house) with the express instructions of opening it today.

it was the cuuuuuutest little advent-calendaresque card!

it has a very sweet christmassy character for each day, i think i am going to have to save this for next year as i love it so much!

today's picture was a little boy in a sheep costume, i think there must be a nativity/pantomime theme.

sew-tastic

i've just started this art project for my A level which is all about personal identity.

basically it's anything to do with yourself, but i've been a bit uninspired lately for the preliminary sketches we're meant to be doing, so today i did some sewing instead.

here it is, my little CND sewing project.

i'm actually quite proud of it, although it did take me aaaages to do.
i've never posted any of my art stuff before, so i thought this may be a good time a time as any to start :)
last night i went to see ed byrne, an irish comedian, with two very good friends of mine. it was sososo funny & i had an awesome night, except my throat is now raw from laughing. he said so many funny things that i wish i could remember & quote here, but i really can't! his dvd is going straight on my christmas list!
oh my, it's my grade two guitar exam tomorrow, eeeek!
must go do some practise now, byeeeeee.

i have felt sooooo ill recently it's kind of ridiculous, but today i was trying to be positive because i have got my self a newwww haircut!

i used to really, and i mean really, hate my hair, but now it's my favourite thing about myself.

it has a mahoooosive amount of hairdressery products in it at the moment (wax, mousse, hairspray, you know the drill) mind, so i need to give it a good purge. i do love it though, it's so much more effortless - i can literally get up & do nothing to it.

it's my brother's (and my god, jimi hendrix's) birthday today so me & the family went out for a curry, which was pretty lovely.
i really should be going to bed seeing as i only managed to get 4 hours sleep last night : but there's a collection of relaxing documentaries on about johnny cash, who i just adore, so i may have to stay up for that.
ohhhh he just did a duet with bob dylan! ♥

are you an affectionless psychopath?

today i went to a psychology conference with my school, it was actually really interesting.

it was basically a lecture about affectionless psychopathy, criminology & why criminals do the things they do.

the first woman speaker was really interesting, she was talking about early experiences & how they can shape the things you do in life (like we're doing in psych at the moment). she was also talking about the "psychopath test" & what affectionless psychopaths behaviour is, which i actually found really really fascinating.

there were also a couple of criminal speakers who were really eye-opening, one of them was clearly a psychopath (in the correct terminology, not in an insulting way) & the other guy was very surprisingly a murderer.

i say surprisingly because he was the guy leading the talk & he seemed very, well, normal.

it was such a good day, i had candyfloss too :)

an education

gosh, it's been a while since my last post.

it was children in need on friday so our school had a non uniform day with a spotty theme. a few people dressed up in costumes, as you can see above, to raise money.

i've just realised it must look like i always wear that skirt on here, but i assure you i do have other clothes.

yesterday, myself & a few friends went out to the cinema to watch an education.

it was a pretty good film, although it did get a bit weird in places, partly because the older man wasn't really hot enough & it just ended up getting a liiiiittle bit odd.

the sixties wardrobe was amazing, these were my two favourite outfits of the film.

see what i mean? he just wasn't hot enough to pull off the role.
this dress was my absolute favourite, apparently all the clothes in the film were genuine vintage clothes.
the dad was the funniest thing in the film though, he had some absolute classic quotes!
it was quite an eventful day, first i went into town myself to do a bit of art shopping but i was very disappointed with the things i found so i stormed off to h&m because i had money burning a hole in my pocket. i bought some pretty fingerless gloves (which i will post pictures of some time) so i can work my ipod on the way to school but still with warm hands.

then, when i met up with my friends, we discovered that the film was an hour earlier than we thought so we had no time to eat - which resulted in the buying of all sorts of unhealthy things & the sneaking of chinese food into the cinema.

it was all in all a very amusing day, as we got the giggles at various inappropriate moments in the film.

i also got very excited when the trailer for the new john lennon film came on screen - i just cannot wait for that to come out!
